Dr. Karuppiah ensures his patients have a strong understanding of their specific neurological conditions and treatment options while treating all patients and their families with the utmost respect and understanding.
His acclaimed career in medicine began after he earned his medical degree from Madras Medical College in India. He also completed Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery residency (MS, DNB) training at PGIMER, Chandigarh, a premier residency training institute in India. Dr. Karuppiah then immigrated to the United States to perform his Surgical Internship at the Creighton University School of Medicine, after which he completed his Neurosurgical residency at the University of Florida College of Medicine(UF).
Passionate about his profession, he is board certified in Neurological Surgery by the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS). The broad aim of the ABNS is to encourage the study, improve the practice, elevate the standards, and advance the science of neurological surgery and thereby serve the cause of public health.
Signifying his high level of expertise and accomplishments in the medical field, Dr. Karuppiah is also board certified in Neurological Surgery by the Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) and is a Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (FAANS).
He was very instrumental in the development and ACS certification of the state-art HCA Florida Ocala Hospital Trauma Center, where he held the position of Neurotrauma Surgeon. He was known for complex and high standard Brain and Spinal trauma surgeries to help improve the Neurotrauma care in the community. He held the position of Clinical Assistant Professor in Dept of Neurosurgery at University of Florida(UF). Currently, he is holding the position of Medical Director of Neurological Surgery at AdventHealth of Ocala, FL, where he is known for Minimally Invasive & Robotic Spinal surgeries and his commitment to the care and improvement of human life. He is also serving as a Clinical Adjunct Faculty at Lincoln Memorial University(LMU) for educating outstanding medical student physicians who are dedicated to the premise that the cornerstone of meaningful existence is service to humanity.
Dr.Karuppiah, gained special training in Minimally Invasive and Robotic Spine Surgery. He treats a wide spectrum of spinal disorders including Cranio-cervical junction,Cervical,Thoracic and Lumbosacral pathologies with the use of state art innovative Minimally Invasive and Robotic assisted technologies.He has a unique expertise in Minimally Invasive and Robotic Technique that results in less pain, less blood loss, reduced hospital length of stay and faster recovery.
