Having practiced in Manhattan and Queens for more than three decades, he holds appointments in The Mount Sinai Hospital, where he is a clinical instructor & Long Island Jewish Forest Hills, where he was the Director of the Division of Hematology and Oncology from 2007 to 2019. Additional appointments include North Shore LIJ Manhasset and New Hyde Park campuses as well as NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital. 

Holding an academic appointment, he serves as an Assistant Professor at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.

Academically, Dr. Abramowitz received his Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He then went on to earn his medical degree from New York Medical College in 1984. Furthering his training, he performed his residency in internal medicine at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s – West Hospital Center, his fellowship in hematology and oncology at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital, and his fellowship in neoplastic diseases and bone marrow transplantation at The Mount Sinai Hospital.

With over four decades of experience, the doctor is board-certified in hematology, medical oncology, and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Well respected as an astute diagnostician and principal investigator, Dr. Abramowitz conducts phase 2 and phase 3 clinical trials in medical oncology. He is a member of the American Society of Hematology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer.
