Dr. Marcella Wilson is a San Diego native and psychiatrist practicing in San Diego, CA. As a medical doctor specializing in the care of mental health patients she diagnoses, consults and treats mental illnesses. In addition to this, Dr. Wilson works in the administrative arm of medicine, and has held various medical directorship positions over the years in various hospital and clinic settings. In treating patients, she utilizes a variety of evidence based methods including psychotherapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy and insight oriented therapy which are all forms of talk therapy. In addition, she capitalizes on psychosocial interventions and psychopharmacology depending on each individual case. Different medications that a psychiatrist might prescribe include antidepressants, antipsychotic mediations, mood stabilizers, stimulants, or sedatives-hypnotics. Dr. Wilson treats conditions like depression, anxiety, OCD, eating disorders, bipolar disorders, personality disorders, insomnia, ADD and other mental illnesses. However, she subspecializes in women's issues encompassing PMS, pregnancy , postpartum, menopause, as well as female trauma. As well, she is an addiction specialist and presently works as Medical Director for the Alcohol and Drug treatment program at UPAC.
