Get to know Dr. Rasha Ebeid
Dr. Ebeid is a specialty care physician who is board-certified through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). She is a skilled obstetrician and gynecologist who strives to be a trusted advisor and caregiver to her patients. She has a special interest in the management of General OBGYN as well as minimally invasive gynecology, female sexuality and pediatric gynecology.
In addition to being an excellent clinician, she has assumed various leadership positions in her field including being the Medical Director of Inova Cares Clinic for Women, the Lead Hospitalist for the Department of OB-GYN at Inova Fairfax Hospital, a position she held for 13 years through 2021 and the Associate OB-GYN Clerkship Director for Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). She is also one of the Founding Members of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (SOGH) and a prior board member and secretary of the board, and was recently chosen as one of nine editors nationwide for the Journal of OB-GYN Hospital Medicine (JOGHM). She has also served on the ACOG Committee on Health Economics and Coding (CHEC) for 7 years, as well as on numerous leadership committees at Inova Fairfax Womens Hospital.
Recognized for her dedication to her field by both her patients and her peers, Dr Ebeid has been the recipient of the 5 Star Excellence Awards for OB-GYN Hospitalist Services for 2 successive years as well as numerous teaching and scholarship awards. Her research included the uses of ultrasound in gynecology, prevention of postpartum hemorrhage, and preimplantation diagnosis.
Dr Ebeid is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor of OB-GYN at the University of Virginia (UVA) and prior to that was an Assistant Clinical Professor at George Washington University (GWU) and at VCU School of Medicine as well as a Lecturer at University of Cairo School of Medicine. Among her other roles, she can be found on staff at Inova Fairfax Hospital and Inova Fair Oaks Hospital.
Dr Ebeid became interested in medicine as a child to emulate her father who was a skilled and compassionate physician. Dr. Ebeid’s long-term goals are to optimize women’s health and to provide women with the tools to make the health decisions that serve their health best and that they see fit for their lives.
A native of Egypt, Dr. Ebeid earned her medical degree from the University of Cairo, School of Medicine (Kasr El Ainy) in 1996 and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology there in 1999. After relocating to the United States, she completed an additional 4 year surgical residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C., during which she also trained at Holy Cross Hospital and Inova Fairfax Hospital. She regularly scored 1-2 standard of deviations above the mean in the US medical certification tests. In both of her OB-GYN residencies, she was appointed Administrative Chief Resident, a leadership role that only 10-25% of residents are honored to assume. In addition to her clinical certification, Dr. Ebeid holds a Masters and Doctoral degree in Medicine, specializing in OB-GYN.
In her free time, she likes to spend time with her family. She particularly enjoys reading, swimming and travel. She is fluent in English, Arabic, Spanish and moderately in French.
