In practice since 1983, Dr. Firstenberg is a fellowship-trained hematologist-oncologist at Texas Oncology-Grapevine. He specializes in hematologic oncology and is experienced in neuro-oncology, breast cancer, prostate cancer, and head and neck oncology.
Texas Oncology-Grapevine is a comprehensive cancer center designed to help in the fight against cancer with leading-edge chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and other vital services. Patients also benefit from the collective wisdom of a network of more than 500 physicians focused solely on treating cancer and blood disorders.
Academically, Dr. Firstenberg graduated with his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from A.T. Still University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1978. He then went on to perform his internship and residency in internal medicine at Grandview Medical Center, his fellowship in medical oncology at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, and his fellowship in hematology at the State University of New York at Buffalo.
Thereafter, he became board-certified in hematology and medical oncology through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Licensed to practice medicine in Texas, Dr. Firstenberg has been serving as the Medical Director at Arlington Cancer Center – Trophy Club since 1987. He is also affiliated with Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital, Texas Health Heart & Vascular Hospital Arlington, Medical City Las Colinas, Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst-Euless-Bedford, Baylor Scott and White Medical Center-Trophy Club, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas, Medical City North Hills, and Baylor Scott and White Medical Center–Grapevine.
