Dr. Quirno is an esteemed, fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon who provides consultation and treatment for patients with both common and complex spinal disorders and deformities. The goals of his practice are to minimize pain, restore function, and improve the quality of life for his patients. 

Licensed to practice medicine in three states, he sees patients at RYC Orthopaedics in New York, New York. The mission of the practice is to provide the highest quality orthopaedic and sports medicine care utilizing an individualized and aggressively conservative approach.

Dedicated to continuing his medical education and teaching other physicians, Dr. Quirno also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at NYU Langone Health. The tri-fold mission of the hospital to serve, teach, and discover is achieved daily through an integrated academic culture devoted to excellence in patient care, education, and research.

A native of Brazil, Dr. Quirno lived in São Paulo until 16 years of age. He later moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina with his family. He attended the prestigious Argentine CEMIC Medical School with a merit scholarship and graduated with an Honors Diploma. His tenacity and pursuit of excellence led him to the United States where he met Dr. Thomas Errico, Director of the Spine Surgery Division at New York University Hospital for Joint Diseases, and was invited to join as a research fellow.

During the completion of the residency program, he was awarded the Reicher Award for Excellence in Research twice. He was also invited to participate in the prestigious Orthopaedic Basic Science Research Fellowship at the Musculoskeletal Research Center at New York University Hospital for Joint Diseases between his second and third year of residency.

As a Spine Fellow at RUSH Medical Center and Shriners Hospital for Children, Dr. Quirno was fortunate enough to train with the most respected deformity, minimally invasive surgery, and motion preservation surgeons in the country, in what is considered the best training ground in the field.

Throughout his 3 years in his first clinical research fellowships as well as during residency and clinical fellowships, he received multiple awards and published numerous peer-reviewed papers. He has presented his research both nationally and internationally over 80 times, is the author of multiple chapters on surgery of the spine, and serves as the editor of orthopaedic journals.

Among his professional affiliations, Dr. Quirno is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, and the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery. 

Committed to academics and research, his major research interests include: minimally invasive spine surgery, basic science and spine surgery, total disc replacements, as well as scoliosis and sagittal imbalance. What’s more, he is board-certified in orthopaedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, which is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopaedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopaedic surgeons.
