Get to know Family Physician Dr. Frederic Civish, who serves patients in Utah.
Dr. Civish is a board-certified family physician who has been in private practice in Utah since July of 1991. He enjoys helping his patients at Hunter Medical Center in West Valley City & Jordan Meadows Medical Center in West Jordan.
As the owner and Medical Director of both locations, Dr. Civish is passionate about educating and treating the entire family. He and his caring team are experienced in diabetes management, pediatric care, women’s health, wellness physicals, cholesterol control, allergy testing, and more.
Locally, he is affiliated with Intermountain Medical Center, Jordan Valley Medical Center, and Jordan Valley Medical Center West Valley Campus.
Born in Dragerton, Utah, a small coal mining town in the southeastern part of the state, Dr. Civish was raised in Southern California and Salt Lake City, Utah. He entered the University of Utah at 16 years of age. At such a young age, he could not decide on his lifetime career, so he spent several years studying various majors and gained experience by working full time, both while in and out of school. During this period, he also served a two year mission for the LDS church in Southern Florida and Puerto Rico, where he learned to speak Spanish fluently.
In 1980, Dr. Civish returned to college and graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology in 1984. He then entered the University of Utah School of Medicine that Autumn.
Since early medical school, he was particularly interested in primary care medicine and studied in the Family Practice Honors Program. He was also very active in numerous organizations and committees, serving as an instructor in Embryology/Child Development at the Utah Teen Mother’s Home. At various times, Dr. Civish served on the College Council, and was Vice President then President of the UMA/AMA Medical Student Section. He served on the Salt Lake County Medical Association Board of Trustees for one year, then spent another year on the Utah Medical Association Board of Trustees.
After finishing medical school in 1988, Dr. Civish did his internship year of Family Practice Residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. He finished his last two years of residency training within the Family Practice Residency Program at the University of Wyoming – Cheyenne Campus.
Dedicated to clinical excellence, the doctor is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties.
Among his professional affiliations, Dr. Civish is an active member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Association, and the Utah Medical Association.
