Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Melissa Duperval, who serves patients in New York, New York.

A trusted obstetrician-gynecologist, Dr. Duperval is in practice with Manhattan Women’s Health, seeing patients at their offices in Tribeca and on the Upper East Side. She treats the simplest and most complex health conditions that affect women in different phases of life.

Academically, Dr. Duperval graduated from Barnard College of Columbia University in New York City with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a minor in Anthropology. She finished her post-baccalaureate premedical studies at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford. She completed her training in gynecology and obstetrics at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, where she served as chief resident and was the recipient of several awards for excellence in teaching and research. She also received the award for compassionate patient care.

Passionate about her profession, the doctor is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define specialty standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.

Prominent and up to date in her field, Dr. Duperval is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a member of the American Medical Association. She also holds medical privileges at Lenox Hill Hospital, Mount Sinai Morningside, and Mount Sinai West.

Obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN) is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system – vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts). An obstetrician-gynecologist specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases and disorders that affect women, such as breast cancer, cervical cancer, and menopause. They work with expecting mothers throughout their pregnancies, during childbirth, and into postpartum.
