Get to know Podiatrist Dr. Ahmad K. El-Samad, who serves patients throughout the State of Indiana. 

Well-respected podiatrist Dr. El-Samad specializes in ingrown toenails, diabetic foot care, and rearfoot and forefoot surgery. Having been in practice since 2006, he sees patients at The Institute of Foot & Ankle Reconstructive Surgery.

The Institute of Foot & Ankle Reconstructive Surgery, with offices in Indiana (Merrillville, East Chicago, and Munster) and Illinois (Chicago), is dedicated to getting to the root of one’s foot or ankle problem. Having chronic foot and ankle pain can greatly affect the quality of life, which is why the practice remains committed to making care convenient and accessible. 

As one of several doctors in the Community Healthcare System who specialize in podiatry, Dr. El-Samad is affiliated with St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago and St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart, having been selected as Director of Diabetic Limb Salvage. He is also affiliated with Community Hospital in Munster.

The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began after he earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from the Barry University College of Graduate Medical Science – School of Podiatric Medicine in 2003. He then went on to complete his internship and residency at the University of Utah Medical Center, followed by his fellowship in diabetic limb salvage at Lecco General Hospital in Italy.

Following his training, he became board-certified through the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, which strives to protect and improve the health and welfare of the public by advancing the art and science of foot and ankle surgery. He also attained fellowship status with the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (FACFAS). 

Among his most notable achievements, Dr. Elsamad has been published on multiple occasions and has conducted various lectures.

A podiatrist, also known as a podiatric physician or a foot and ankle surgeon, is a medical professional devoted to the treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle, and lower extremity. They can treat injuries and complications from ongoing health issues like diabetes.
