Following the completion of his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1995, Dr. Muzzonigro went on to further his training. He performed his internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where he served as chief resident from 1999–2000 and as a clinical instructor in orthopaedics.
Thereafter, he attained board certification through the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopaedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopaedic surgeons.
Continuously advancing his efforts, Dr. Muzzonigro is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (Fellow; on the Board of Councilors), the American Association of Hip & Knee Surgeons, the Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Society, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, and the Allegheny County Medical Society.
His current hospital affiliations include: UPMC Passavant Hospital, McCandless Campus; UPMC Passavant Hospital, Cranberry Campus; and Butler Memorial Hospital.
Professionally, Dr. Muzzonigro is the Orthopaedic Services Director at Butler Memorial Hospital, and the Team Physician for the Pine-Richland Fighting Rams Athletic Department. He also participates in Operation Walk Pittsburgh by traveling to Central America to perform knee and hip replacements on poverty-stricken individuals who are unable to afford orthopaedic care.
