Relating to his education, Dr. Rummel graduated with his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from A.T. Still University-Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1991. He then went on to perform his internship at Metropolitan General Hospital, and his residency at Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

With years of experience, the doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery (AOBOS). The AOBOS is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of disorders of the musculoskeletal system.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, Dr. Rummel served as a pilot and battalion surgeon.

Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.

A true inspiration, Dr. Rummel was suddenly paralyzed in 2010 when a blood-filled cyst burst in his spine. After a year of rehabilitation, he was back at work seeing patients and performing knee, foot, ankle and elbow surgeries from a traditional wheelchair.

His physical strength comes from daily exercise and his family also supports him wholeheartedly. He says his freedom, despite his disabilities, has been a lifesaver.
