Dr. Samala sees patients at Cary Gastroenterology Associates, joining the practice in 2010 as Laboratory Director and pathologist and opening an on-site pathology lab.
Cary Gastroenterology Associates is proud to be one of the only gastroenterology practices with its own on-site, physician directed pathology lab. Dr. Samala and the physician team provide the highest quality care in a very efficient and compassionate manner.
Throughout her academic career, Dr. Samala graduated from American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in 1997. She obtained her medical training at Old Church Hospital in Romford, England, and at the University of Tennessee, Memphis. Continuing on to the University of North Carolina, she conducted her fellowship in both surgical pathology and cytopathology.
Following her training, the doctor attained board certification in anatomic and clinical pathology & cytopathology through the American Board of Pathology (ABPath). The mission of the ABPath is to promote the health of the public and advance the practice and science of pathology by establishing voluntary certification standards and assessing the qualifications of those seeking to practice the specialty of pathology.
Prior to joining Cary Gastroenterology Associates, Dr. Samala was employed with LabCorp. She has also held the positions of Laboratory Consultant, Medical Education Instructor, and Pathology Laboratory Inspector for the College of American Pathologists.
Pathology is a branch of medical science that involves the study and diagnosis of disease through the examination of surgically removed organs, tissues, bodily fluids, and in some cases, the whole body.
