Get to know Urologist Dr. Joseph Ford, who serves patients in California.

Dr. Ford is a highly skilled urologist who is renowned for his exceptional care. He serves at several prominent medical institutions in California, where he can be found on medical staff at Visalia Medical Clinic, Kaweah Health Medical Center, and Kaweah Health Dinuba Clinic.

Specializing in a range of urological areas, with a focus on genitourinary cancers, Dr. Ford also treats overactive urinary bladder, female pelvic prolapse, prostatitis, erectile dysfunction, prostate cancer, urologic emergencies, and conditions related to kidney stones and the adrenal glands.

His education took place in the United States, where he obtained his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree from Touro University Nevada’s College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2012. Subsequently, he completed both his internship and residency at Detroit Medical Center, followed by an oncology fellowship at Carolinas Medical Center.

Dr. Ford explained that he chose urology in his third year and found it to be “the greatest medical and surgical subspecialty practice in the history of medicine. It is amazing because I can have a busy surgical practice but still have the medical aspect. It’s hybrid, robust, and I loved it.”

Board certified in urological surgery, the doctor is a Diplomate of the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery (AOBS). The AOBS is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the use of surgery to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

Crediting his success to diligence, hard work, and good training, Dr. Ford is an active member of the American Urological Association and the Society of Urology Oncology.

Urology, also known as genitourinary surgery, is the branch of medicine that focuses on surgical and medical diseases of the male and female urinary-tract system and reproductive organs. Urologists specialize in diseases of the urinary tract and both male and female reproductive system. Patients may be referred to a urologist if their physician suspects they may need treatment for a condition relating to the bladder, prostate, urethra, ureters, kidneys, and adrenal glands.
