Having lived in the Minneapolis area his entire life, Dr. Mesna earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from St. Olaf College in Northfield. He then went on to study dentistry and medicine at the University of Minnesota, earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1985, followed by his medical degree in 1989. He continued his internship and residency in general surgery and then narrowed his focus by participating in a plastic surgery residency and fellowship program from 1993 to 1996. After he became a fully-qualified plastic surgeon, he opened his Minneapolis-area practice in 1996.
Attributing his success to providing a personal approach in approving one’s image, the doctor is board-certified in plastic surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). The mission of the ABPS is to promote safe, ethical, efficacious plastic surgery to the public by maintaining high standards for the education, examination, certification, and continuous certification of plastic surgeons as specialists and subspecialists.
With a dedication to patient safety and satisfaction, Dr. Mesna maintains memberships in multiple state and national organizations, including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Minnesota Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the American College of Surgeons (Fellow). He has also been recognized by a number of different state and national organizations.
