  • Concussions and Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE)

An initial impact. The force from the impact causes your brain to strike against the inner surface of the skull and then rebound against the opposite side. The brain shifts and twists from the force. The brain swells over time and severe injury and damage result. These events all cause quick...

  • Cluster Headaches

Before you jump on that migraine headache bandwagon….pull on those reins. It could be an altogether different headache. Your migraine you have been suffering from for years may actually be a little-known cluster headache. Cluster headaches are a series of relatively short but very painful...

  • Is It Really Sciatica?

That pain in my leg.Sciatica’s the name, “debilitating lower back pain that extends down the hip and legs” is its game. And you’d probably like to get some relief from the pain that has you recliner-bound.Hear this! Sitting around is not only getting old, it’s also making your symptoms...

  • Should I stretch before seeing a chiropractor?

Stretching is always a good thing to do before any activity. Sometimes being more flexible and not as stiff can allow for really good movement when a chiropractor manipulates your joints. Increased range of motion is always a good thing. READ MORE

  • Does chiropractic care soothe heartbreak?

Yes and no....if you have joint fixation in your spine, this can lead to a decrease plane of movement, spinal manipulation by a qualified chiropractor with advanced knowledge of neurology can help to increase that plane movement, which will create an uptick in the novelty to the appropriate cerebellum, which in turn will lead to an increase in cognitive capacity. In simpler terms, it is like when someone is feeling down and they go outside and they just sit and listen to nature, or go for a nice walk down a trail. By the time they are through, they feel better. Will it instantly cure your heartbreak for good? No, but it will start the process of healing. Good luck. READ MORE

  • Should you let a chiropractor crack your neck?

Normally if the Chiropractor has performed an extensive neuro examination on you and finds things to be normal....adjusting the neck is fine. READ MORE

  • How do you know if your SI joint is out of place?

Tenderness, decreased range of motion, pain upon walking, and the big one, pain and a hard time getting up from sitting in a chair. READ MORE

  • Does frozen shoulder cause pain down the arm?

No....this is probably a pinched nerve around the c5/c6 area in your neck.....consult a good neuro READ MORE

  • Can a chiropractor help a headache?

Yes, a good chiropractor can narrow down your headache symptoms and determine if spinal manipulation is a good fit for you....I have great success with all my headache patients. READ MORE

  • Why is my lower back pain worse in the morning?

At 59, you are probably dealing with some early onset degenerative changes to the spine; it's normal at 59. The joints, as they age, become wore down, and this leads to decreases in range of motion and then stiffness. So, I would work on some stretching. Heating pad at night before bed, maybe some cardio if you aren't doing that already. It will get better. READ MORE

  • How should I sleep to fix rounded shoulders?

Sleep your normal way....the best way to fix your rounded shoulders is to activate your extensors....so get in that gym and work on your back more than your chest or shoulders or arms.....at birth we are flexed beings....but as we grow up we get upright and our extensors take over....so help those back muscles out and you will see those rounded shoulders disappear. READ MORE

  • Elbow pain?

Sounds like you would need some imaging to rule out a potential fracture....once that is ruled out then more than likely you have a severe sprain..... READ MORE

  • Should you massage a pulled back muscle?

Yes....see a licensed massage therapist for it...they do wonders. READ MORE

  • Is heat or ice better for a pulled back muscle?

Ice....anytime you have an acute muscle injury...think ice. READ MORE

  • Is it possible to straighten a curved spine?

No...and don't let any doctor or Chiropractor tell you that they can...if they do...run! At 33 years of age the curve you have is the curve you will have for the rest of your life. Generally, if you are referring to scoliosis, then by the time you hit 18 the curve will not change for the worse....or the better. But, don't feel too bad, most people walking around on the planet have some sort of spinal deviation....and in most cases, with good activity and muscle strength work you can keep your pain to a minimum and enjoy a great life. • What activities should you avoid with a herniated disc?

You should avoid any forward bending at the waist and especially any heavy lifting that would require you to get caught bending forward. READ MORE

  • What is the fastest way to heal a herniated disc?

Hello, Well, in all honesty, I don't like to use the term "heal" when I am treating or referring to a herniation. Disc or fluid moving mechanism and they seldom ever really "go back" once they are herniated. There are different terms when referring to disc herniation and they are basically measured. So, the question would be, can I get this under control and reduce my pain and increase my range of motion? Yes. READ MORE

  • What might be causing my hip pain?

Well a good orthopedic examination can rule out whether or not it is an actual hip problem, or if it really is a bilateral SI joint issue. A lot of times people think they have a hip issue, but true hip pain is actually in the front and not in the back. A good chiropractor can rule this out. READ MORE

  • Shoulder arm pain?

More than likely you have some degeneration of the cervical area and this decrease in joint space is pinching on a nerve... READ MORE

  • How should you lay with a slipped disc?

Normally with a "slipped" disc the best position will be on your back with your legs bent at 90 degrees with some pillows under them to achieve this position. This position is known as flexion and will take some of the strain off the irritated disc. READ MORE

  • Should I see a chiropractor for a slipped disc?

Yes and no.... The term "slipped" disc is a bit uninformative. A chiropractor worth his weight in gold would do an extensive neurological exam on you, then refer you for some imaging. Start with X-rays and then an MRI after that. These will help the chiropractor to determine how large and what, if any, "slipped" disc you might have. After gathering all that info, then the chiropractor should be able to reasonably determine if they can help you, or refer you to an ortho or neuro specialist. READ MORE

  • Do ankle sprains ever fully heal?

Yes and no.... The injury will heal, but when a ligament is injured or torn, the body tends to want to heal the affected area rather quickly so it can get you back to what you were made for: moving. So, in a sense, yes. But, no in the sense that you need to take some active measures to help this injury heal to its max ability. Ice the area every night, get you a tennis ball and, while sitting, put it under your foot and start rolling on it. This will increase your ROM and reduce your pain, etc. Always consult your medical provider for more info as well. READ MORE
