Get to know Pediatrician Dr. Richard Schwimmer, who serves patients in New York.

Serving children of all ages for 50 years, Dr. Schwimmer is a knowledgeable and reachable pediatrician who is affiliated with NYU Langone Health in Manhattan, New York.

Alongside his clinical role, he serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor within the Department of Pediatrics at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. 

A 1971 graduate of Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, Dr. Schwimmer went on to perform his residency in pediatrics at Montefiore Medical Center from 1971 to 1974. For the next two years physicians in the Air Force. 

Two years later, in 1976, he attained board certification in pediatrics through the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.

Licensed to practice medicine by the state of New York, Dr. Schwimmer is affiliated with Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, Maimonides Medical Center, and NYU Langone Health.

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends individuals be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. Pediatricians provide medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. They are trained to examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses through all of their developmental stages, as they grow and mature.

In honor of his clinical experience, Dr. Schwimmer is the recipient of Patients’ Choice Award (2014, 2015, 2017) and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2014, 2016).
