Hospital Metropolitano Dr. Pila (or more commonly known as Hospital Dr. Pila) is a hospital in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Its mission is to offer excellent services in the medical field with the most advanced technology and to achieve total patient satisfaction.

A 1999 graduate of  Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara School of Medicine, Dr. Santana went on to perform his internship at Damas Hospital in 2000. He then relocated to the United States, performing his residency in anesthesiology at Tulane University in 2003.

From 2003 until 2004, he served his fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology with the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

Anesthesiology is the medical specialty concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during, and after surgery. It encompasses anesthesia, intensive care medicine, critical emergency medicine, and pain medicine. Anesthesiologists have the primary responsibility of monitoring the patient’s vital signs during surgery.
