Get to know Endocrinologist Dr. Erika A. Strohmayer, who serves patients in Trumbull, Connecticut.

A prominent endocrinologist, Dr. Strohmayer is affiliated with Hartford Healthcare Medical Group in Trumbull, Connecticut. Her areas of clinical expertise include diabetes management, fine needle aspiration, metabolism disorders, obesity, parathyroid disorders, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), and ultrasound of thyroid.

With a broad educational background, Dr. Strohmayer earned her medical degree from the New York Medical College in 2005. She then went on to complete her internship, residency in internal medicine, and fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes & metabolism at the Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine in 2008 and 2011, respectively.

Following her training, the doctor attained board certification in endocrinology, diabetes & metabolism and internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

In order to remain up to date in her field, she is a proud member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, and the Endocrine Society.

Endocrinology is a branch of biology and medicine dealing with the endocrine system, its diseases, and its specific secretions known as hormones. Endocrinologists have the training to diagnose and treat hormone imbalances and problems by helping to restore the normal balance of hormones in the body. The common diseases and disorders of the endocrine system that endocrinologists deal with include diabetes mellitus, as well as adrenal, pituitary, and thyroid disorders, among others.

Among her various accolades, Dr. Strohmayer has been the recipient of the Moffly Media Magazines/Fairfield County Top Doctor Award (2021), Exceptional Women In Medicine Award (2020, 2021), Top Doctors in New York Metro Area Award (2021, 2022), Connecticut Magazine Top Doctor Award (2021, 2022(, New York Magazine Top Doctor Award (2021, 2022), and Patients' Choice Award (2016).
