When can I start walking after angioplasty?
Greetings Depending on where your cardiologist chooses to access your artery for the intervention will depend on whether you should be up and walking soon. Some procedures are access through the radial artery, which is a artery in the wrist. Others are access to the femoral artery, which is an artery in your groin. Usually, if your groin is accessed, you are usually required to lie flat a couple of hours after the procedure. You may have a weighted device placed on the groin as a measure of pressure while youre recovering. It most cases some type of closure device may also be used. At that point most physicians would suggest no heavy, lifting for approximately a week, but as far as getting back to walking, you usually can get back to that within less than 24 hours. Have a great day. READ MORE
