Get to know Pulmonologist & Critical Care Medicine Specialist Dr. Sanjay Dogra, who serves patients throughout the State of Michigan.

Quadruple board-certified, Dr. Dogra is in practice at Beaumont Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine Associates, seeing patients at their offices in Royal Oak, and Southfield, Michigan. He can also be found on staff at Beaumont Hospital Royal Oak – Lung Nodule Clinic & Interventional Pulmonology.

Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak is a major academic and referral center with Level I adult trauma and Level II pediatric trauma status. It is a part of Beaumont Health, which is Michigan’s largest health care system and provides patients with compassionate, extraordinary care, no matter where they live.

An Indian native, Dr. Dogra graduated with his medical degree from the Government Medical College in 1992. After relocating to the United States, he completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in pulmonary disease at the Harlem Hospital Center, and his fellowship in critical care medicine at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine Hospitals. Later, he completed his Master of Business Administration degree at the Indiana University Kelley School of Business.

With an unwavering commitment to his specialty, the doctor is board-certified in pulmonary disease, critical care medicine, sleep medicine, and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Pulmonology is a medical specialty that deals with diseases involving the respiratory tract. A pulmonologist is an internal medicine physician who specializes in preventing, diagnosing, and treating conditions and diseases that affect the lungs, bronchial tubes, and the respiratory system, including the nose, pharynx, and throat.

Intensive care medicine, also called critical care medicine, is a medical specialty that deals with seriously or critically ill patients who have, are at risk of, or are recovering from conditions that may be life-threatening. Critical care medicine specialists (also called intensivists) are medical doctors who specialize in the care of people who are in an intensive care unit (ICU). In some areas, when a person is very ill and has to spend time in an ICU, he or she is cared for by a critical care medicine specialist.

Among his most notable achievements, Dr. Dogra has been the recipient of the Patients’ Choice Award (2009, 2008).
