A board-certified hematologist-oncologist, Dr. Wold has served Central Louisiana for more than 30 years. He is in practice with Hematology Oncology Life Center in Alexandria, Louisiana.

The mission of Hematology Oncology Life Center is to support, treat, and improve the lives of patients as they heal from this disease. Their team delivers comprehensive, personalized, compassionate care in a setting that is convenient to home.

Beginning his professional pursuits, Dr. Wold received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Dakota and then graduated from West Virginia University School of Medicine. He trained at Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco, completing a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in hematology and medical oncology.

He remained in San Francisco and became Chief of Hematology/Oncology at Letterman Army Medical Center and Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco before moving to Alexandria in January of 1989. He can be found on staff at Rapides Regional Medical Center and CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital.

Remaining up to date in his field, Dr. Wold is an active member of the Louisiana and Rapides Parish Medical Societies, the American Medical Association, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the American Society of Hematology.

A Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), he is board-certified in medical oncology, hematology, and internal-medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Hematology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study of the cause, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to blood. Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A hematologist-oncologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of cancer, malignant blood diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma, and blood disorders such as iron-deficiency anemia, clotting abnormalities, hemophilia, and sickle-cell disease.
