Originally founded in 1980 at DePaul Medical Center by a small group of radiologists including a core from Johns Hopkins University, Hampton Roads Radiology Associates quickly grew to provide improving radiology care to the Hampton Roads community, now serving six hospitals and additional imaging centers. The expertly trained, subspecialized physicians are proud to offer a full menu of superior and timely diagnostic and interventional imaging services ranging from general radiography, CT, MRI, and PET to interventional radiology procedures.
Among his other roles, Dr. Wetzler is the Chair of Radiology at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital and remains affiliated with Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center. He also holds academic appointments at Eastern Virginia Medical School and participates in the training of the next generation of radiologists.
Following an exciting medical career, he graduated with his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1992. A year later, he performed his residency in diagnostic radiology at the Medical College of Virginia. Furthering his training, Dr. Wetzler completed his fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
After completing his training Dr. Wetzler practiced at Pitt County Memorial Hospital / East Carolina University School of Medicine for three years before joining Hampton Roads Radiology Associates in 2003. While in Greenville, he helped start that UFE program and participated in the CIRREF national UFE registry.
As a testament to his success, he is board-certified in diagnostic radiology and interventional radiology by the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The ABR is a not-for-profit physician-led organization that oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics.
Continuing active participation in leading organizations, Dr. Wetzler is an active member of the American College of Radiology, the Radiological Society of North America, and the Society of Interventional Radiology.
