Dr. Marks is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, and oculoplastics. He has been a Managing Partner of Augusta Eye MD since 2004 and the Medical Director of Augusta Eye Surgery, LLC since 2008. 

Augusta Eye MD offers comprehensive diagnostic services and state-of-the-art treatment. Its team of skilled eye surgeons and highly trained staff ensures eye care experience is comfortable, convenient, and efficient from start to finish. Regarding his educational background, Dr. Marks received his undergraduate education at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, before graduating with his medical degree from the Ohio State University College of Medicine. After an internship at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, he completed his residency training in ophthalmology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

Prior to moving with his family to Augusta in 1990, he worked at his private practice in Gainesville, Georgia, which he opened in 1987. In addition, he was a Clinical Instructor for the Emory University Department of Ophthalmology at the Atlanta VA Hospital.

A Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, he is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology, an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America.

Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery, which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. Ophthalmologists are experts in the diseases, functions, and anatomy of the eye. Ophthalmologists are also surgeons. They repair traumatic injuries to the eye and may perform cataract, glaucoma, and corneal surgery.

Among his most notable achievements, Dr. Marks has been on Augusta Magazine’s list of “Best Doctors” since the award’s inception in 1997. He was the first ophthalmologist in Augusta to be included.

On a more personal note, he and his wife have two children and now live in Evans, Georgia.
