What anesthesia is used for foot surgery?
The most common is a combination of local anesthetic such as lidocaine or marcaine injected directly into the foot for numbness, as well as a sedation administered by the anesthesiologist. In this case, the patient is sleeping and breathing on their own. Sometimes for more extensive foot surgeries, general anesthesia will be used, where the patient is completely out and patient is intubated. READ MORE
