Get to know Dentist Dr. Darren D.K. Wong, who serves patients in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Dr. Wong is a general and cosmetic dentist & Invisalign Gold provider. He has been passionate about providing high-quality, personalized dentistry for over 20 years, working alongside Dr. Kristi Koyanagi at Dentaworks Hawaii.

He says that knowing he has the ability to change a patient’s life for the better is by far the best part of his job. Nothing makes him happier than when a patient shows their appreciation because he has worked hard to give them his best, whether someone is coming in for a checkup or a smile makeover. 

With 40+ years of exceeding Honolulu residents’ expectations, Dr. Wong, Dr. Koyanagi, and their talented staff are committed to offering patients the best on the island. Majoring in finance at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Dr. Wong then worked at the Bank of Hawaii for five years in their investment/fund management division. He eventually decided that he wanted to help people in a different, more personal way, and went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of California at San Francisco School of Dentistry in 2001.

Over the years, Dr. Wong has taken over 100 hours of continuing education focusing on subjects including dental implants, Invisalign, facial esthetics, orofacial pain, and sleep dentistry.

Among his professional dental affiliations, he is an active member of the American Dental Association association, the Hawaii Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Academy of Laser Dentistry, the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the American Academy of Orthodontists, the American Academy of Facial Esthetics, and SPEAR Education.

In addition, he is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine (ABDSM), which believes higher standards for dental sleep medicine translate into better care for patients and greater accountability. The ABDSM credential is widely recognized as the gold standard for excellence in dental sleep medicine.

Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy. 

Married to his dental school classmate, Dr. Amanda Wilson, Dr. Wong and his wife have two children, Evan and Olivia, who are both competitive swimmers, as well as a cat named Vinnie. 

On the weekends, Dr. Wong likes to cook, surf with his daughter, and work on hot rod cars.
