  • How long is the recovery for a front tooth implant?

    After normal implant surgery takes 2 months for initial healing and bone integration, then about 5-6 months for full healing until a new crown can be placed onto the implant. The pain of the implant surgery should be only a few days at the most but if there is constant pain after 3 days, call your dentist or surgeon who placed the implant immediately just to follow up. Majoring in finance at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Dr. Wong then worked at the Bank of Hawaii for five years in their investment/fund management division. He eventually decided that he wanted to help people in a different, more personal way, and went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of California at San Francisco School of Dentistry in 2001.

Over the years, Dr. Wong has taken over 100 hours of continuing education focusing on subjects including dental implants, Invisalign, facial esthetics, orofacial pain, and sleep dentistry.

Among his professional dental affiliations, he is an active member of the American Dental Association association, the Hawaii Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Academy of Laser Dentistry, the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the American Academy of Orthodontists, the American Academy of Facial Esthetics, and SPEAR Education.

In addition, he is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine (ABDSM), which believes higher standards for dental sleep medicine translate into better care for patients and greater accountability. The ABDSM credential is widely recognized as the gold standard for excellence in dental sleep medicine.

Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Married to his dental school classmate, Dr. Amanda Wilson, Dr. Wong and his wife have two children, Evan and Olivia, who are both competitive swimmers, as well as a cat named Vinnie. 

On the weekends, Dr. Wong likes to cook, surf with his daughter, and work on hot rod cars.
