Dr. Longwell is a reputable dermatologist working with the Dermatology Department at Kaiser Permanente Redwood City Medical Center in Redwood City, California. She feels very fortunate to be an integral part of such a wonderful and extremely talented team of doctors and staff on the Peninsula.

She and her entire team always strive their best to enable each patient to feel well cared for, and she personally aims to provide them with an exceptional health care experience at each and every visit.

“I am passionate about working closely with my patients toward reaching their health care goals, and providing the best care possible. I look forward to meeting you, and toward building a long and rewarding relationship together as your dermatology physician” expressed the doctor.

Raised in the Bay Area, Dr. Longwell attended U.C. Berkeley for undergraduate school, and then completed her medical school training at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in upstate New York, where she graduated with Honors. She was fortunate to continue her surgery training at Northwestern University in Chicago, and then enjoyed her residency in dermatology at Baylor College of Medicine, where she also trained an additional year as the Mohs Micrographic Surgery Fellow.

Following her training, she attained board certification in dermatology through the American Board of Dermatology (ABD). The ABD is a voluntary, non-profit, private, autonomous organization formed for the primary purpose of protecting the public interest by establishing and maintaining high standards of training, education, and qualifications of physicians rendering care in dermatology.

While Dr. Longwell enjoys general dermatology and treats all ages of patients, she has additional training in skin cancer, and in skin cancer surgery. And while her training took her around the country, she has always known that she would return to California to pursue her professional career in medicine.

Placing a strong emphasis on compassionate and comprehensive patient care, she is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (FAAD) and a Fellow of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (FASDS).

Dermatology is the branch of medicine dealing with the skin, the largest organ of the body; a specialty with medical, surgical and cosmetic aspects. A dermatologist is a specialist doctor who manages skin diseases due to both internal and external causes and is trained to address cosmetic concerns involving the skin. Dermatological duties include diagnosis and management of a variety of skin disorders, rashes, birthmarks, skin cancer screening and treatment, skin infections, cutaneous surgery and the use of injectables and lasers for skin rejuvenation.

On a more personal note, Dr. Longwell finds balance in her life by enjoying quality time with her family, playing soccer, working out at the gym, biking with friends, and running marathons.
