You should be evaluated by a periodontist. You may need gum grafting. That involves transplanting gum tissue from one place to another. The periodontist can use the roof of your mouth as the donor site. Sometimes the periodontist will use human freeze-dried skin for the donor tissue like what is used for a burn patient. How painful is pinhole gum surgery?
For pinhole gum grafting surgery first, you will need to be seen by a dentist who is certified in pinhole to see if you’re a candidate for pinhole surgery. Surgery is performed using a local anesthetic like Novocaine. After surgery Advil or ibuprofen is generally adequate for postoperative pain management. Sometimes there is some swelling. Can gum disease cause your teeth to fall out?
Gum disease or periodontitis causes bone loss around teeth. The bone is what holds the teeth in and the gums protect the bone. With progressive bone loss, the teeth will become loose and can fall out if it gets to be severe. Also, uncontrolled gum disease is a risk factor for several other inflammatory diseases including cardiovascular disease, stroke, Alzheimer’s, pre-term labor with weight babies, diabetes, lung infections, and increased incidence of certain cancers. Yes. You should see a periodontist for a complete evaluation to see what your problems are and what the possible options are for treatment. It sounds like you have at least gingivitis which is inflamed swollen red and/or bleeding gums.
