He is passionate about comprehensive dental patient care, especially restoring or replacing missing teeth for esthetic and healthy smiles. His goal is to help patients achieve the cosmetic and functional smile of their dreams by replacing missing teeth with dental implants to create healthy, beautiful smiles.

Growing up in Stillwater, Minnesota, Dr. Nelson attended the University of Wisconsin — Madison where he graduated with honors and double majors in anthropology and biology. He also enjoyed a semester spent living and studying in Seville, Spain. 

Thereafter, he returned to the University of Minnesota — Twin Cities where he earned his Doctorate in Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 2016 and had the opportunity to complete a clinical externship in Aarhus, Denmark.

After graduation, Dr. Nelson was commissioned as lieutenant into the U.S. Navy Dental Corps. He was first stationed at Great Lakes Naval Base in North Chicago, Illinois, where he completed a residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry. He then served overseas at the Marine Corps Air Station in Iwakuni, Japan, where he was awarded a Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal for his excellence in clinical work caring for marines stationed abroad. 

After leaving Japan, Dr. Nelson landed in Washington State to conclude his active-duty time at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. After the honorable completion of five years of active-duty service, he moved into private practice dentistry in Seattle, and later moved back with family to Minnesota.

Keeping up on recent developments in dentistry through extensive continuing education coursework, Dr. Nelson has completed over 10 times the biennial requirement of 50 CE hours with his 500 CE hours over the course of two years. He has also completed a one-year surgical course in implant dentistry through the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. 

Additionally, Dr. Nelson maintains professional memberships with the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.

Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries, create beautiful smiles, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy.

In his personal life, Dr. Nelson is an avid travel, as well as sports and outdoors enthusiast. He enjoys running, cycling, snowboarding, wakeboarding, backpacking, hiking, camping, fishing, Nordic skiing, and spending time with his wife, family, and friends.
