What vitamins help with depression?
L-methyl folate 7.5-15mg daily; it was once FDA-approved as Deplin. Depends what FEATURES of depression predominate in your case. Anxiety, sleep, fatigue, motivation, appetite (up or down)....too many variables to give you the best advice. As far as a comprehensive supplement, the renowned psychiatrist I work with recommends Neurella (3-4 capsules/day) to his patients. If anxiety is a big feature, there is good research on NAC up to 1800 mg/day....but you may have trouble buying this online for much longer b/c the FDA ordered supplement sellers to stop, due to the fact that NAC was approved as an actual drug in 1963. Do you need to see a neurologist after a stroke?
Yes, b/c the greatest risk after stroke is.......another stroke! So, lowering your risk factors is key to "keeping the function you still got." Sadly, not all neurologists are created equal. A VERY few truly specialize in stroke management; and the guidelines are constantly changing. And even fewer neurologists specialize in neuro-rehabilitation....and only a few of those will care or know much about which medications or supplements could help with optimizing functional recovery...both in the short term and the long. How do you stop panic attacks without medication?
Mindfulness training such as meditation and yoga can help you cope and reduce these feelings or at least control your response to feelings of anxiety. Other stress-relieving techniques such as breathing and counting may also help. As part of a comprehensive change in lifestyle, learn to reduce and avoid common stressors and incorporate exercise as well as dietary changes. A growing realization in the mental health community places emphasis on a "psychiatric diet". This nutritional approach hilights anti-inflammatory foods, balancing gut flora known as your 'biota' with pre and pro-biotics, and ensuring adequate intake of omega-3 fatty acids ("fishoil"). Oral supplement or nutraceuticals have shown promise. Examples include NAC at 1800mg/day, curcumin+black pepper formulations; Ashwagandha, Bacopa and Rhodiola are examples of 'adaptogens' that seem to keep the brain--and the mind--on a more even keel. https://www.healthgrades.com/physician/dr-jonathan-fellus-x7xqb READ MORE
What is the best therapy for anxiety?
The most general but best answer is a combination of psychotherapy or talk therapy combined with attention to psychiatric nutrition or certain nutritional supplements that come from the natural world; and when those 2 issues and other lifestyle issues such as exercise have been attempted then often medication is worthwhile to explore READ MORE
