Get to know Periodontist & Implantologist Dr. Barbara Knowles-Fenning, who serves the population of New Jersey. Dr. Knowles-Fenning completed her undergraduate degree from Adelphi University in New York. Furthering her education she then graduated with her Doctor of Dental Surgery from Columbia University. After obtaining her Doctorate, she completed her Residency in Family Dentistry from the University of Connecticut and received additional certification in Periodontics from Columbia University. Dr. Knowles-Fenning currently practices within her private practice where she believes strongly in education to prevent oral health problems before they occur, and makes sure to keep patients fully informed about their dental health. She uses the latest in periodontal techniques to provide you with a beautiful and healthy smile. She holds an expertise in periodontics, implants, Pinhole Root Coverage and Laser Therapy. The office offers Nitrous Oxide and Cone Beam CT Scans. A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease, and in the placement of dental implants. They are also experts in the treatment of oral inflammation. Periodontists receive extensive training in these areas, including two additional years of education beyond dental school. They are familiar with the latest techniques for diagnosing and treating periodontal disease, and are also trained in performing cosmetic periodontal procedures.
