Celebrating More Than Two Decades of Dedication in Obstetrics and Gynecology
Dr. Pamela Parke Carbiener, an esteemed obstetrician-gynecologist, has been a cornerstone of women’s healthcare in Daytona Beach for over twenty years as a partner at Halifax OB/GYN Associates. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Carbiener serves as the Clerkship Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Florida State University College of Medicine Daytona Beach Campus, where she plays a pivotal role in shaping the OB/GYN curriculum and mentoring third- and fourth-year medical students.
Dr. Carbiener’s journey began with her graduation from Purdue University in 1983, followed by earning her Medical Degree from the University of South Dakota School of Medicine in 1988. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Georgetown University Hospital in 1992 before moving to Daytona Beach with her family, where she has since established herself as a leader in both clinical and community healthcare.
Rooted in community service, Dr. Carbiener was inspired early in her career by renowned physicians Jim White and Marty Fiegenbaum. Her commitment to public health led her to become actively involved in the Volusia County Medical Society, where she conducted school physicals and contributed to the society’s publication, “The Stethoscope.” She became the medical director of the Rape Crisis Center and co-founded COPE, reflecting her dedication to addressing critical health issues in the community.
Throughout her career, Dr. Carbiener has held numerous leadership positions, including chairing the OBGYN departments at Ormond and Halifax hospitals, serving as Chief of Staff at Halifax, and participating as a delegate for the Florida Medical Association. She has also contributed her expertise to various community organizations, including Healthy Start, the Bert Fish Foundation, and the Daytona State College Center for Women and Men.
Dr. Carbiener’s pride lies in her dual commitment to medical education and ensuring access to prenatal care for all women, regardless of socioeconomic status. Seizing on the opportunity to create a regional medical student campus, she advocated aggressively alongside TK Wetherall, Dr. Sharples, Dr. Schildecker and Noah McKinnon to bring this to fruition, now boasting a faculty of over 400 physicians dedicated to training future healthcare leaders. Many graduates have returned to practice in the community, fulfilling Dr. Carbiener’s vision for a robust healthcare workforce.
In her clinical practice, Dr. Carbiener has become a trusted obstetrician for women facing challenges such as addiction, homelessness, and mental health issues. Her work at the Volusia County Health Department’s prenatal care clinic provided crucial services to underserved populations, and she continues to care for many of these patients in her private practice.
To further support women and infants at risk, Dr. Carbiener and her family founded the Daytona Blues Festival. Now in its seventh year, the festival has raised over $150,000 for the Halifax Health NICU project and Project WARM at the Vince Carter Sanctuary, fostering community engagement through music and philanthropy.
Throughout her journey, Dr. Carbiener attributes her success to the unwavering support of her family, including her husband Frank and their children—Sarah, Charlie, and Katie. Her deep understanding of her patients’ needs has been instrumental in her ability to provide compassionate, effective care.
Dr. Pamela Parke Carbiener continues to be a vital asset to Daytona Beach, embodying a commitment to excellence in healthcare, education, and community service. Her legacy of compassion and dedication ensures a healthier future for women and families in the region.
