In regards to her educational background, she originally wanted to become a pediatrician but realized after several rotations in all areas of medicine that she enjoyed adult medicine as much as pediatrics. Seeing a variety of ages, genders and health issues throughout the day makes every encounter interesting and unique for her. She received her medical degree at Eastern Virginia Medical School, and completed her residency in family medicine at the Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center.
Subsequent to her education, the doctor attained board certification in family medicine through the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice family medicine and its sub-specialties.
Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. A family physician is often the first person a patient sees when seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat patients with a wide range of conditions and refer those with serious ailments to a specialist or appropriate facility.

Outside of work, she loves spending time with her husband, Tom, and 3 sons, Jake, Sam and Ben, and their labrador, Fred. She enjoys long-distance running and has run several half marathons. She also loves traveling, photography, reading and weekly volunteering as a classroom assistant in an inner-city elementary school.
