Get to know Internist Dr. Majid Shahbaz, who serves patients throughout the State of California.

Dr. Shahbaz is a board-certified internist focusing on treatments and conditions such as elder abuse, end-of-life care, geriatrics, and more. In practice since 1996, he is affiliated with Sharp HealthCare, more specifically: Sharp Memorial Hospital, Sharp Grossmont Hospital, and Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center.

Sharp HealthCare is a not-for-profit regional health care group located in San Diego. It includes four acute-care hospitals, three specialty hospitals, three affiliated medical groups, and a health plan. Sharp has approximately 2,600 physicians and more than 18,000 employees with a mission “to improve the health of those we serve with a commitment to excellence in all that we do.”

The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began after he earned his medical degree from St. George’s University in Grenada, West Indies. He then went on to serve his internship and residency at New York Medical College, followed by his fellowship at the University of California, San Diego. 

Passionate about his profession, Dr. Shahbaz is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists. They manage and prevent common and complex diseases by providing comprehensive care and promoting overall well-being.

Fluent in both English and Farsi, Dr. Shahbaz is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2012, 2014), On-Time Doctor Award (2014, 2018), and Patients’ Choice Award (2012, 2014, 2018).
