Dr. Puziss is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in family, sports & general orthopedics. He is currently serving patients at his private practice, Puziss Orthopedics in Beaverton, Oregon. He is also affiliated with several hospitals in the Portland area, including Legacy Good Samaritan, Providence Portland, Providence St. Vincent, and Portland Adventist.
Prior to his current endeavours, he served as an emergency room physician from 1973 to 1979 and as a consulting physician for the California Medical Group from 1977 to 1978.
After earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry from the University of Washington, Dr. Puziss went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, Washington in 1971. He completed his internship and residency in general surgery at Harbor–UCLA Medical Center, followed by his fellowship in the Irvine Orthopedic Residency Program with affiliated hospitals at the University of California.
In affiliation with several professional organizations, Dr. Puziss is a member of the Oregon Association of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Metropolitan Medical Society of Greater Portland, the Spine Intervention Society, the American College of Sports Medicine, the American Medical Association, the Oregon Medical Association, the American Association of Integrative Medicine, and the Western Orthopedic Association. He is also board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.
Orthopedic surgery or orthopedics is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and nonsurgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders. Dr. Puziss’ areas of focus include arthritis, back and spinal problems, fibromyalgia, occupational medicine, and sports medicine – to name a few.
