Get to know Internist Dr. Phillip Andrew Musikanth, who serves patients in Los Angeles, California.

Dr. Musikanth has been practicing medicine since 1986. Known for his genuine commitment, compassion as well as his professionalism and expertise, his journey began in his home land, South Africa. 

After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology  and his medical degree from the University of Capetown, he provided medical care to the impoverished and medically underserved in shanty towns. He later came to the United States and completed his residency in internal medicine at the LAC+USC Medical Center.

Since then, Dr. Musikanth has had a medical practice in Los Angeles focusing on general internal medicine and HIV / AIDS. He has been involved in various clinical trials for new HIV treatments as both principal and sub investigator.

Professionally, he served on the Board of AIDS for AIDS for several years before the organization merged with the Serra Project to become the Alliance for Housing and Healing. He continues to serve as an advisor on the Medical Advisory committee.

Internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists. They manage and prevent common and complex diseases by providing comprehensive care and promoting overall well-being.

The City of West Hollywood honored Dr. Musikanth with the Angels Amidst Award, a commendation to those, who without fanfare, consistently and unselfishly go that extra mile to be of service to humanity. He has also been recognized as one of America’s compassionate doctors, an honor awarded by patients to less than 3% of the nation's 720,000 active physicians.
