Are there any natural ways to get rid of a stye?
You cannot use hot compresses enough (4+ times per day). Check out the ones that you can microwave that will stay hot for at least 5 min. You, however, may need to be seen by a Dr as you might need more intense treatment (esp if you get styes frequently) and sometimes recurring styes are a sign of inflammation caused by a parasitic infestation. Treatable, but you may need a Drs help. READ MORE
My refractive error in both the eyes is about 6. Can you please suggest a possible treatment?
Forms of treatment for this would be obviously glasses and/or contact lenses. Other considerations would be orthokeratology, PRK, LASIK, and even clear lens exchange (essentially cataract surgery) if you aren't a candidate for the other two surgical options (depending on your corneal structure). There are many considerations when determining what's best for you, including age, overall health, activities, what you do for work, and the level of dryness of your eyes. Good luck in your search. Can you recommend some eye exercises to ease eye pain?
It would depend on the type of eye pain. Most pain, towards the end of the day is associated with chronic dryness (esp heavy technology users). Most dry eye patients (around 85%) have an associated lipid (oil) deficiency in their tear film. Perhaps try an oil based lubricant drop 3-4 x per day for a week to see if that resolves your issue. If not, then seek care from an eye doctor as sometimes there's more going on than the need for simple eye exercises. READ MORE
After a LASIK surgery when can I expect my vision to become normal?
If you're still having blur after your LASIK procedure, one of the things to check on is if you're using your preservative-free lubricants enough. Some patients require more moisture supplementation than others (ie. 1 drop per hour while awake). The first thing I would do is step up the lubrication. Your docs (surgeon and co-managing doctor if you have one) should be notified as well. Protocol for most LASIK patients is to check in with them at 1 day, 1 week, and 1 mo after their procedure. I've noticed that many patients will get a little cloudy during their first mo, but usually are pretty great at their 1 mo visit (if they have been following their drop protocols pretty consistently). So, if you're having a little blur after your procedure, but your doctors look and say you're doing pretty well, many times it's best to just be a little more patient (and of course, NO rubbing) READ MORE
Can I wash my face with contact lenses on?
No one product works for everyone, but I'd say that the majority of our patients would say that they wouldn't give them up after a week of use. I've found that the higher your distance prescription, the easier it is for you to get used to them. We try to set expectations, however, as nothing will give you those 25 year old eyeballs that we all miss :) READ MORE

Optometry is a health care profession that involves examining the eyes and applicable visual systems for defects or abnormalities, as well as diagnosing and managing eye disease. Optometrists are healthcare professionals who provide primary eye care through comprehensive eye examinations to detect and treat various visual abnormalities and eye diseases. Being a regulated profession, an optometrist’s scope of practice may differ depending on the location. Thus, disorders or diseases detected outside the treatment scope of optometry (i.e. those requiring certain surgical interventions) are referred out to relevant medical professionals for proper care. Optometrists typically work closely together with other eye care professionals, such as ophthalmologists and opticians, to deliver quality and efficient eye care to the general public.
Happily married, Dr. Dalton II and his wife, Larisa, have two daughters and a puppy named Izzy. He enjoys spending his free time outdoors, often hiking waterfalls, running, and working on his BBQ skills.
