He did his residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center, and his fellowship at The University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he focused on Hematology, Medical Oncology, and Bone Marrow Transplantation. He is certified in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology and Hematology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) has stood for the highest standard in internal medicine and its 20 subspecialties.
