Get to know Interventional Radiologist Dr. Aaron Kovaleski, who serves patients in Lone Tree, Colorado.

Named one of America’s Top Doctors for the year 2020, Dr. Kovaleski is a board-certified and fellowship-trained interventional radiologist with extensive experience in lower extremity revascularization for non-healing wounds, critical limb ischemia, and claudication. He is the Founder and President of Endovascular Consultants of Colorado in Lone Tree, Colorado.

Endovascular Consultants of Colorado strive to provide the best possible patient outcomes with a dedicated focus on compassionate, quality care. The medical practice focuses on interventional radiology and minimally invasive options for a variety of patient conditions, including metastatic cancer to the liver, peripheral arterial disease, benign prostatic hypertrophy, uterine fibroids, pelvic congestion syndrome, venous insufficiency, venous obstruction, non-healing wounds, and leg swelling. Likewise, the staff of highly trained interventional radiologists deliver precise and targeted treatment to complex and serious diseases and conditions.

The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began after he earned his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. He then went on to complete his internship in internal medicine at Baptist Health Systems in Birmingham, Alabama, followed by his residency in diagnostic radiology and his fellowship in vascular-interventional radiology at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City.

Before entering his radiology training, Dr. Kovaleski was an emergency physician for several years. His ER background has given him a strong clinical and diagnostic skill set, unique to most others in his field.

As a testament to his success, he is board-certified in diagnostic radiology and vascular and interventional radiology by the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The ABR is a not for profit physician-led organization. It oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics.

In order to provide patients with a more complete and global approach to wound healing, Dr. Kovaleski obtained certifications in wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Treating the entire spectrum of vascular wounds, he works closely with multiple wound care centers in the state. He is also an expert in Yttrium-90 (Y90) cancer therapy and is 1 of 40 trainers in the country for this procedure, teaching and providing training on the subject throughout the country.

Considering interventional oncology to be one of his greatest professional passions, Dr. Kovaleski started a robust interventional oncology program in Pensacola, Florida, increasing treatment volumes by over 300% in one year. Among his other accomplishments, he gained extensive experience treating peripheral vascular disease by working side by side with vascular surgeons, initiated new interventional oncology initiatives in Richmond, Virginia, thereby increasing his group’s oncology volume by over 300% (again) in less than two years, as well as received the Certificate of Merit for Research from the Radiological Society of North America. Furthermore, he has been published in the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, as well as in cross-disciplinary journals such as Urology.

In order to stay up to date in his field, he remains a member of several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, the Radiological Society of North America, the American College of Radiology, the Society of Interventional Radiology, and the Outpatient Endovascular and Interventional Society.

Interventional radiology is a medical specialization that involves performing a range of imaging procedures to obtain images of the inside of the body. An interventional radiologist carefully interprets these images to diagnose injury and disease, and to perform a range of interventional medical procedures.

A proud husband and father, Dr. Kovaleski strives for balance with work and family life. He considers himself to be “really good at telling stupid jokes that don’t make many people laugh”, and prides himself on eye rolls. His favorite pastime is sitting on the couch with his wife, laughing at their toddler while he figures out how to get into every cabinet and cupboard.

He also enjoys doing physical fitness and trivia, watching NFL and college football, watching live sporting events and movies, fine dining and not so fine dining, traveling, reading books, people watching, listening to music, and other interests such as comic books and documentaries.
