Receiving her Undergraduate Degree from the University of Virginia, Dr. Yaghmai majored in Biology with a minor in Psychology. She did extensive basic science research and published articles in traumatic brain injury. She then attended medical school and received her Medical Degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
After medical school, Dr. Yaghmai completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. She then completed a two year fellowship in neuroradiology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Board certified in diagnostic radiology and neuroradiology, Dr. Yaghmai is a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The ABR oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics.
Neuroradiology is a subspecialty of radiology focusing on the diagnosis and characterization of abnormalities of the central and peripheral nervous system, spine, and head and neck using neuroimaging techniques. Neuroradiologists are doctors who focus on diagnosing conditions of the spine, neck, head, and central nervous system.
