Get to know Urogynecologist Dr. John T. Crane, who serves the population of Colorado. Dr. Crane graduated from Texas Tech University Health Science Center with his Medical Degree, in 1988, giving him over three decades of experience in his field. After obtaining his medical degree he completed his Obstetrics and Gynecology internship and residency with Texas Tech Health Sciences Center. Wanting to further his training he then completed a 2-year post residency fellowship in Advanced Pelvic Surgery at the Watson Clinic in Florida and at Texas Tech. These two years were all gyn oncology and pelvic reconstruction surgery. Dr. Crane became board certified in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery in 2014. He remains board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians, and Gynecologists. To stay up to date in his field, he is a member of the American Urogynecology Society and the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists. Dr. Crane currently practices with the Banner Health Clinic and is affiliated with Banner Ft. Collins Medical Center, McKee Medical Center, and North Colorado Medical Center. He subspecializes in Urogynecology and believes in providing the most up to date patient care both clinically and surgically. Dr. Crane started the robotic surgery program at Banner McKee and is both an Intuitive Epicenter Surgeon, and a Surgical Review Corporation Robotic Surgeon of excellence. Urogynecology is a subspecialty within both urology and gynecology that focuses on disorders of the female pelvic floor. Urogynecologists are specifically trained to treat pelvic floor disorders, including urinary and fecal incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse (displacement of the uterus, bladder, rectum, or vagina). Prolapse and incontinence frequently occur together and both conditions may result from damage to the pelvic floor after having a baby, heavy lifting, chronic conditions causing coughing, severe constipation, and obesity, among others. When he is not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, sports, and training protection dogs. In keeping with his Texas roots, he also loves to smoke meats, and will trailer his smoker to various functions to feed the masses.
