Prior to joining Fountain Life, Dr. Blackman served as a concierge physician for the Executive Comprehensive Care Program at LifeSpan Medicine in Santa Monica and Dallas; she was CEO and Founder of several private functional medicine practices in the greater Washington, DC area; and she served as Medical Director of the Integrative Medicine Clinic at University of Maryland in Baltimore, MD after completing full-time fellowship training in Integrative and Functional Medicine at University of Maryland in 2003.
Prior to entering the MD-PhD program at University of Maryland, Dr. Blackman earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Penn State University in 1982. She then went on to earn her Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware in 1985 while working for Du Pont in Newark, DE, and then earned a second Master’s degree in Mathematical Statistics from the University of Maryland Baltimore County in 1993 before earning her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Epidemiology & Preventive Medicine in 1997 from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore in 1997 with a focus on women’s health and hormone therapy
She earned her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 1999 and graduated from residency training in Family Medicine in 2002 from Franklin Square Hospital Center in Baltimore, MD. She has maintained Board-Certification through the American Board of Family Medicine since 2002.
Dr. Blackman is a perpetual student obtaining extensive training in functional and nutritional medicine, hormone therapies, peptide therapies, mind-body medicine, anti-aging medicine and more since graduating from medical school. Due to her extensive experience in hormone therapy for women, Dr. Blackman was invited to contribute a chapter in the book, Integrative Sexual Health, in the Weil Integrative Library. Dr. Blackman authored Chapter 2, “Mid-Life and Beyond – Female Hormonal Status and Its Effect on Sexual Health,” published by New York Oxford University Press in March 2018.
