Get to know Endocrinologist Dr. Jimmy Alele, who serves patients in Lima, Ohio.

A highly trained endocrinologist, Dr. Alele is affiliated with Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima, Ohio. He specializes in diabetes care, thyroid disease, and metabolic bone disorders, including osteoporosis, adrenal disorders, pituitary disorders, and cholesterol problems.

Since 1918, Mercy Health — St. Rita’s Medical Center has been providing quality health care to the people of Lima and west central Ohio. Graduating with his medical degree from Makerere University in Uganda, Dr. Alele relocated to the United States to further his education. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Cornell University, St. Barnabas Hospital, and his fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes & metabolism at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in endocrinology, diabetes & metabolism, and internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Endocrinology is a branch of biology and medicine dealing with the endocrine system, its diseases, and its specific secretions known as hormones. Endocrinologists have the training to diagnose and treat hormone imbalances and problems by helping to restore the normal balance of hormones in the body. The common diseases and disorders of the endocrine system that endocrinologists deal with include diabetes mellitus, as well as adrenal, pituitary, and thyroid disorders, among others.
