Dr. Richard L. Katz has been practicing orthopaedic surgery in the Capital District since 1991. A native of Montreal, Quebec, Dr. Katz received his undergraduate degree from Vanier College. He then attended McGill University in Montreal, followed by an internship at the Jewish General Hospital. After doing a residency at the Montreal General Hospital in orthopedic surgery,He did a fellowship in London Ontario specializing in both primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery. 

Dr. Katz now works at OrthoNY, A large orthopedic and pain management group in the Capital district region of New York.

Dr. katz is trained in robotic surgery for knee replacement, and uses a innovative new less invasive approach to hip replacement surgery call the superior approach.

He is board certified in orthopedic surgery. He's a member of the American Academy of orthopedic surgeons and American Association of hip and knee surgeons.

Dr. Katz works out of his Albany, Latham and Clifton Park offices in the capital region.

Dr. Katz has been practicing orthopaedic surgery in the Capital District since 1991. He is in practice with OrthoNY, working out of the offices in Albany, Latham, and Clifton Park.

Board-certified in orthopaedics and fellowship-trained in joint replacement surgery, he is one of a handful of surgeons in Albany to offer the “Signature Knee,” a revolutionary, custom fit total knee replacement system. He also performs hip replacements and Birmingham Hip Resurfacing. 

His practice accepts all areas of orthopaedics with his special interest being in patients with joint disorders and joint replacement surgery. He also performs patellofemoral replacements for relief of pain in the kneecap caused by arthritis and wear.

A native of Montreal, Quebec, Dr. Katz received his undergraduate degree from Vanier College. He then attended the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University in Montreal, followed by an internship at the Jewish General Hospital. After doing a residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Montreal General Hospital, he did a fellowship at University Hospital in London, Ontario specializing in both primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery. 

Recognized as a leader in his field, he is board-certified in orthopaedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopaedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopaedic surgeons.

In direct affiliation with his industry, Dr. Katz is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. He also sits on the Board of the New York State Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons. 

A member of the Board of Directors of the Executive Woods Ambulatory Surgery Center, his other hospital affiliations include: St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany Memorial Hospital, and Samaritan Hospital.
