Operating from his private practice in Chicago, Illinois, he is closely associated with Northwest Community Day Surgery Center, Northwest Community Hospital, Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, and Ascension Resurrection.

Graduating with his Medical Degree from Faculty of Medicine at Higher University of San Andrés in 1979, Dr. Mercado went on to further his training in the United States.
