Esteemed Surgeon Brings Extensive Experience and Advanced Techniques 

Dr. Stephanie J. Muylaert, a highly regarded cataract and glaucoma surgeon, has joined the surgical and medical consultative team at InSight Vision Group, seeing patients from the group’s offices in Denver and Parker, Colorado. 

Dr. Muylaert specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of mild to advanced glaucoma and advanced cataract surgery. Her expertise includes LenSx laser-assisted cataract surgery with ORA technology, as well as the use of premium lenses, including multifocal, light adjustable, and astigmatic correcting options. With a strong commitment to patient care, she aims to provide personalized treatment plans that meet the unique needs of each patient.

A Magna Cum Laude graduate and Phi Beta Kappa member from Southern Methodist University, Dr. Muylaert earned her Medical Degree from McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, TX. Following a surgical internship at Methodist Hospital in Dallas, TX, she completed her ophthalmology residency at the State University of New York, Stony Brook, and a glaucoma fellowship at the prestigious New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mt. Sinai.

After her fellowship, Dr. Muylaert was an attending physician at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mt. Sinai.  She provided direct oversight to residents in the glaucoma clinic and operating room.  Her dedication to resident education continued when she joined the Weill Cornell Department of Ophthalmology as an Assistant Professor.  She supervised both resident and fellow clinical and surgical skills and served as the Co-Director of the Glaucoma service. 

Dr. Muylaert’s dedication to clinical excellence is further exemplified by her completion of the Clinical Quality Fellowship Program in New York, where she became the first ophthalmologist accepted into the program and subsequently became the Quality & Patient Safety Co-Chair at Weill Cornell.  Dr. Muylaert has demonstrated a deep commitment to enhancing patient outcomes and safety.   She believes open discussions with patients and keeping them actively involved in their eye care directly impacts the success of their treatment, and helps them maintain the best vision possible.    

Board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Muylaert is an active member of several prestigious organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Glaucoma Society, and Women in Ophthalmology.

Outside of her professional achievements, Dr. Muylaert enjoys spending time with her husband, John, a radiologist at Denver Health, and their three young children. She is passionate about skiing, practicing pilates, and cherishes time spent at the beach.
