Get to know Nephrologist Dr. Nivedita Chander, who serves patients throughout the State of Virginia.

Dr. Chander, a distinguished specialist in nephrology, became a valued member of Bluemont Nephrology in 2000, where she provides expert care from offices in Warrenton, Gainesville, and Culpeper, Virginia. 

Her extensive experience, education, and specialized training equip her to deliver optimal care for a broad spectrum of kidney-related issues, with particular interests in preESRD education and chronic kidney disease management.

In her local area, Dr. Chander maintains privileges at multiple healthcare institutions, including Fauquier Hospital, Culpeper Regional Hospital, and Haymarket and Prince William Hospitals. She also holds dialysis privileges at facilities spanning from Warrenton and Culpeper to Locust Grove, Haymarket, and Prince William.

Graduating from Muhlenberg College, Dr. Chander went to medical school at Sidney Kimmel Medical College. Subsequently, she completed her residency in internal medicine and fellowship in nephrology at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois.

Demonstrating her exceptional qualifications, Dr. Chander holds board certification in nephrology from the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Nephrology is a specialty of medicine and pediatrics that concerns itself with the kidneys. It is the study of normal kidney function and kidney disease, the preservation of kidney health, and the treatment of kidney disease, from diet and medication to renal replacement therapy. Nephrologists have advanced training in treating kidney disease. They diagnose and treat kidney failure, as well as help patients by prescribing medications, offering special diet advice, and coordinating dialysis care or kidney transplantation when it becomes necessary.
