Get to know Dermatologist Dr. Ariel Ostad, who serves the New York City tri-state area at his private practice, Ariel Ostad MD, and several area hospitals. Currently, Dr. Ostad owns and operates his own clinic in the heart of New York City and he is a preceptor of the NYU School of Medicine High School Fellows Program, which allows him to train the next generation of doctors. Dr. Ostad is a leading authority on Mohs micrographic surgery and the co-author of Management of Skin Cancer as well as the textbook Practical Management of Skin Cancer. He was formerly a contributing editor with Journal of Dermatologic Surgery and he currently serves as associate editor with Journal of Drugs in Dermatology. Dr. Ostad attended the NYU School of Medicine, then continued his medical studies with an internship in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Ostad then completed a residency in dermatology with the NYU School of Medicine. He has been board certified by the American Board of Dermatology in dermatology and has been in practice for over twenty years. To further the field of dermatology, Dr. Ostad serves as part of NYU’s Alumni Board of Governors and Dean’s Advisory Council. He is also involved in a variety of philanthropic activities, which contributes to his awareness of what the field of dermatology can do for its patients. Dr. Ostad has earned many prestigious honors, including the title of Top Doctor on Realself–a designation bestowed on less than ten percent of participating physicians. Additionally, he is a three-time recipient of New York University’s Surgical Attending of the Year Award. He has also been named one of Castle Connolly’s Top Doctors and a New York Super Doctor. Dermatology is the branch of medicine dealing with the skin, nails, hair and its diseases. It is a specialty with both medical and surgical aspects. A dermatologist treats diseases, in the widest sense, as well as some cosmetic problems of the skin, scalp, hair, and nails.
