Regarding his educational background, Dr. Gulati earned his medical degree from the prestigious All-India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi in 1973.  Upon relocation to the United States, he completed a residency in internal medicine at The Brooklyn Hospital Center from 1973-1976.  This was followed by one year of fellowship in hematology/oncology at the same Hospital. Then he moved to Long Island to finish his hematology fellowship from 1977-1978.

A Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine, hematology, and geriatric medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists. They manage and prevent common and complex diseases by providing comprehensive care and promoting overall well-being.

Dr. Gulati is the recipient of some awards including Hall of Fame at Broadlawn Manor Nursing Home located in Amityville and received a Humanitarian award from Hospice Network of New York and an award in the memory of a Bollywood actress Nargis who died of pancreatic cancer at a young age.  He also loves to teach and is currently involved in motivating as a teacher to Nurse Practitioner students, Physician Assistant students and DO students.
