I had thought Dr. Centurion had left the country, so I did not pursue a complaint with the State Board after our horrible week with her as part of a team for a non-mental-health in hospital stay for one of my kids. I was worried enough about her practicing, though, that I occasionally Google her to make sure she's not in the US, and apparently she is now in private practice. The short version of our really horrible experience is: she misdiagnosed my daughter with an eating disorder, in the midst of some horrible side effects/reactions to some medications for migraine that we were trying to deal with, and Dr. Centurion WOULD NOT look at growth curve data in the hospital’s computer, call our family doctor of many years, call the Endocrinologist, or look at any empirical data. She repeated her assentation that since my daughter was so thin, and since Dr. C doesn't trust the opinion of anyone else (including other doctors!), that my daughter must have an eating disorder. This essentially held us hostage for extra days until the hospital ran out of reasons that they could medically keep us. Here we are years later with a now adult daughter who still does not have an eating disorder, but who is still very thin, as she has always been. It's unforgiveable the things Dr. C did that week, including waiting until we stepped out of the room so she could confront our daughter repeatedly about "her eating disorder" (to which our daughter would repeat "I do not have an eating disorder, please check my growth curves in Epic, you have years of data to check this against."). Please be very wary if you see Dr. Centurion. I know that it's difficult to find adolescent psychiatric care, but it is very important to have a psychiatrist that is trustworthy and will work with you to help your kids thrive.
